About the event
Join foraging mentor Andy Gricevich of What Got Gathered and Coral Conant Gilles, Storytelling Naturalist for a two day workshop foraging and processing acorns*.
Saturday, October 2nd, we’ll kick off with a story and some history of acorn uses, forage acorns (and possibly other treats) and begin processing them for flour. (Hoyt Park, 3902 Regent St, Madison WI 53705)
The following week, on Saturday October 9th, we’ll come together in community to continue processing while Coral shares stories - the mind and body in balance of work and rest. Andy and Coral will have a foraged treat or three for us to nibble and taste as we work. At the end of the day everyone will go home with acorn meal to finish processing, as well as suggestions for use. Most of the work will be done, and you’ll have the knowhow to easily finish the process. (This portion will be in Coral's backyard. The address will be supplied with registration, but is in Madison, WI and accessible by bike, bus, and car.)
*While we hope for acorns, we know our necessarily rigid schedule may not align with nature’s organic timeline. If acorns are not available to forage, we will gather what is available, discuss how to use and process it, and process acorns Andy and Coral gather in the weeks prior. Nuts are likely, in any event!
